#7 Tropical Greenhouse, Signs and The Storm

Colasanti's Tropical Nursery, what a treat!!! Tehya and I had come here last Saturday but I refused to get out the car as the parking lot was jammed full and there were people everywhere. Will we, I hope I'm not alone here, ever get over this, "No way am I going into THAT crowd!!!!" feeling? Ray and I returned on Tuesday to the above crowd. Great. This worked well. Again, this is not a little greenhouse with a few plants. This is like Disney world goes Tropical Nursery. There is gift shop packed with goodies. There is a petting zoo which is missing the animals right now. Probably seasonal.

I managed to fill a buggy. Not sure how I'm going to get my new babies home as they will be sharing the car with Max. Gorgeous orchids. Mine at home are still in bloom. Did you know that an orchid will bloom for 6 months. I hope mine at home will hang on until I get there at the beginning of April.

There is mini golf which we really want to play but it is only available on the weekends and I already know that is a no fly zone. Everywhere you look here it is fresh, clean and green.

And, there is a restaurant. To the right there is a large sitting area but we chose one of these little cabanas. Almost like being in the Bahamas. Almost. We had chicken sandwiches which were yuck and brought home some braised chicken and chips for dinner which were very good. The coleslaw was yummy.

The owner of Colasanti's is Joe Colasanti. He is 88 and comes to work every day. I so wanted to meet him and chat about his gorgeous place but I couldn't spot him, small wearing a colourful toque. I may go back and scout him out. Some people in life are inspirational to meet and I think Joe is one of them.

Interesting sign....

The first time I saw this sign I burst out laughing. Are you serious? Drivers in this area need to be told this? Is the gene pool this shallow? Scary.....

You know how you drive by a place numerous times and mean to stop in and don't. Well start stopping. Lovely experiences are waiting for you!!!

I love to shop locally and do it as much as possible. We bought a lot of veg and later sat to enjoy a pear only to discover that the sticker said it was from the U.S.A. That is funny!!!!

I asked if I could take a picture of the green house and was amazed at the size. You don't realize from the road just how extensive it is inside. I always ask to take pictures as some people or situations are sensitive. This guy was very accommodating so took full advantage.

Here in the south, it rarely snows but Sunday morning dawned a new world order. The snow was falling, the wind roaring and the lake was in a frenzy.

The amazing thing was that by 4 in the afternoon the lake was calm, no snow and much less wind velocity. It was an interesting experience to go through a snow storm and I hope it will be the last of the snow we see here.

We head home in just over two weeks. Right now at home the propane truck can't get down our driveway and the basement has sprung a leak. Sure hope I can do damage control from here so we don't have to go home early.....

Thanks for reading the stories of this week. Pass the address on to friends. Hope you have been entertained and smiled occasionally. God Bless and stay Strong!!!
