Yes. I know. I'm a day late. I had a very busy day yesterday. We went to Chatham to a chiropodist. He was 12 but did a great job. If you know some young person looking for a direction in life, chiropody may be a good field to get into. It took me a long time to find one in this area. Then we went to Goodwill where I bought a box of treasures. Next to the car wash and got the super wash which took a couple of hours. I wondered if we might get rescued if it got dark outside. Leaving town I discovered a Len's Mill and dragged Ray in there for a look. Max got a new toy and that was it. I may need to go back.....

In the pic above, can you see the V? It's a sign. I'm not sure of what but I know it's a sign. If I see an R, I think I'll get concerned and amazed!!! You can see ice coming to shore in a band. Yesterday there was no sign of ice on the lake and this morning we can see more bands coming in.

Quick!!! How do you pronounce this? No you don't. Try again. Dockside Fisheries advertised these last week so we popped around to see their store and pick up some Paczkis. There was a story on the side of the box explaining how these Polish delicious donuts are made to be eaten before lent. As a result, I've decided to give up salads for lent and only eat Paczkis. I thank the good Lord that there are merely 6 in a box and not 12!!!!

On Monday we headed into Leamington to go grocery shopping. We found the Real Canadian Grocery Store. I thought it was a joke name but that really is the name. At the check out the bill came to almost $400 and then the cashier pulled out this big box from under the counter and asked if I would like one. My first question was, "Why?" Did we look hungry? Did we look like we needed some extra calories in our diet? Did we look poor? It seems that we earned it so I took it!!! A great box of junk we would never eat if it wasn't free and even then, Max may get to indulge in some of it. I wonder what we will win next time? Since the beginning of the pandemic grocery shopping has been our big outing every two or three weeks and now here in Southern Ontario it has become even more exciting!!!

In case you have forgotten what a laundromat looks like, here is a picture for you. We love our new house except that it doesn't have a washer and dryer and therefore we have to go to the local Wheatley, spelt with two "e"s, laundromat. This is one of a very few businesses on the outskirts of the town that is still allowed to be open so I was hoping to chat with some locals but we were the sole occupants which also gave us the opportunity to read magazines we wouldn't normally subscribe to like Women's Day and Hunting and Killing Nature's Wildlife.

Until it was brought to my attention, I hadn't thought of Wheatley as being a waterfront town but we discovered that it is indeed. It is actually way bigger than Kingsville and Leamington harbors. There were so many fishing boats in storage and in the water. I didn't notice them "bubbling" so I need to find a fisherman to talk to or check with JB to see if she might know why. As spring is in the air here, I'm going to keep an eye on this area and see when they start going out to fish. I sure would love to do that. On the main road going to the harbour there are a few fisheries selling local catches. I need to learn how to cook perch the local fish. I cooked some in Kingsville in January and it was not delightful.

This golf course is just around the corner from our house and is the only restaurant in the area that is open. I had been watching the parking lot since we moved in and thought there were way too many occupants for my liking but last Saturday we gave it a try and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is very large and tables are spaced well apart. I thought it was strange not be asked for our vaccination passports when we arrived and our server later told us we looked like vaccinated people. The look in our eyes? The colour of our skin? Just wondering. While we were there a couple came in who did not have passports and were declined entry which I was pleased to see but as of today, everyone will be welcome. Not sure how I feel about that. I will be interested to see if more folks are there next time we go to dine.

Ray trying to decide if this is safe to eat.

Don't ask. I always have the salad and whatever but on Saturday it was, "Bring me the most unhealthy thing you have to offer!!!" and I must say....it was delicious!!! Kind of goes along with my lent sacrifices.

This area is resplendent in massive greenhouses and windmills. Every where you look. I want to see inside and hopefully in the next few weeks I am going to do just that!!!

And that's it for another week. Yes, that is a picture of our last heavy snow!!! This was a really good idea to come to this area of Ontario. It is a different world from home where there are feet of snow and freezing temperatures. When we can't return to our beloved San Blas, this will be our winter home.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Let me know what is happening in your life. Come for a visit. It is almost spring here!!! Blessings!!!
